Board Directors

  • Andrew Barrie

    Andrew Barrie Chairman

    Andrew was appointed to the Board and as Chair of Cornelian in 2015. He founded and led Barrie & Hibbert, a global leader in risk management products and services for the insurance, pensions and asset management industries. By the time of its sale to Moody's in 2012, Barrie & Hibbert employed more than 100 staff and had offices in London, Hong Kong and New York. Prior to this, Andrew led several premier-rated teams in investment management, broking and banking. He now also chairs a youth project in North Edinburgh and has founded social enterprises to encourage youth employment.

  • Jeremy Richardson

    Jeremy Richardson Chartered FCSI, BA (Hons) Chief Executive Officer

    Jeremy has been Chief Executive since 1998. He is responsible for leading the development and execution of the firm’s strategy as well as regulatory compliance. In addition to day-to-day management responsibilities Jeremy chairs the firm's Executive Committee and provides support and advice to a number of colleagues working with existing and potential clients of Cornelian.

  • John Jackson

    John Jackson MBA, FCIBS, ACSI Managing Director, Intermediary Business

    John joined Cornelian in May 2005 from National Australia Group where he had held a range of senior operational, finance and strategy roles in banking and financial services in Scotland and Australia. He joined Cornelian as Chief Operating Officer and, in addition, was responsible for the company’s strategy for developing intermediary business. Following considerable growth in this area John now leads the Intermediary Division within Cornelian and focuses his time on developing this business and extending its reach in the market.

  • Hector Kilpatrick

    Hector Kilpatrick MSc, MBA, ASIP Chief Investment Officer

    Hector leads the global, multi-asset investment team at Cornelian. He is responsible for the investment performance of all our mandates as well as managing and developing our investment processes and promoting our unconstrained, active investment philosophy. He joined Cornelian in 2010 from Scottish Value Management where he managed the successful SVM UK Alpha Fund. Prior to this, he worked at Standard Life Investments and was a key member of the Continental European equities team. Hector has an MBA in Strategic Management from Imperial College Business School.

  • Marcus Brooks

    Marcus Brooks MA, ASIP Director

    Marcus joined Cornelian Asset Managers as a Director and as Chief Investment Officer in 2002. He is responsible for Cornelian's Discretionary Fund Management Services and manages portfolios for private clients, charities, and pension funds. In addition to his client responsibilities, Marcus sits on the Investment Committee with a focus on asset allocation for Cornelian's multi-asset funds and discretionary client portfolios. A graduate of Oxford University, Marcus worked previously in institutional asset management at the SG Warburg Group and Kleinwort Benson in London and Stewart Ivory in Edinburgh. He has specialised in UK Equity and Fixed Interest investment and managed multi-asset portfolios for Investment Trusts, Unit Trusts, Pension Funds and Charities.

  • Regina Jackson

    Regina Jackson MA (Hons), FCIBS, FCIPD Operations and HR Director

    Regina joined Cornelian Asset Managers in 2011. As Operations Director Regina is responsible for the management of operations across the Investment Administration and Private Client areas of the business in addition to Human Resources and Programme Management. Regina previously worked for National Australia Group and Openreach where she held a number of leadership roles in Human Resources, programme & change management.

  • Gordon Coull

    Gordon Coull Non-Executive Director

    Gordon was appointed to the Board of Cornelian in 2015.  He is a qualified chartered accountant and, prior to his retirement in 2011 was a senior partner in the financial services practice of Ernst & Young LLP. As an audit and advisory partner he specialised in asset management, working with a range of asset managers and their funds, both in the UK and Europe. Gordon is also a director and audit committee chairman of Target Healthcare REIT Ltd, a Jersey-listed property company and a member of the audit committee of the Universities Superannuation Scheme, one of the UK's largest pension funds.

  • John Jackson

    John Jackson MBA, FCIBS, ACSI Managing Director, Intermediary Business

    John joined Cornelian in May 2005 from National Australia Group where he had held a range of senior operational, finance and strategy roles in banking and financial services in Scotland and Australia.   • Chris Warren

    Chris Warren BSc (Hons) Intermediary Relationship Manager (South West)

    Chris joined Cornelian in August 2014 from Apollo Multi Asset where he was responsible for adviser relationship management. Chris has 22 years investment experience gained in the Asset Management industry, having previously undertaken business development roles at Premier Asset Management and Schroders. Chris completed a BSC Hons in Law and Marketing at De Montfort University and also holds the Investment Management Certificate. At Cornelian, Chris is responsible for adviser relationships in the South West

  • Kevin Sturla

    Kevin Sturla MIFS Dip(FA) Intermediary Relationship Manager (South East)

    Kevin joined Cornelian in September 2013 as a Business Development Manager from Aviva where he was responsible for Intermediary Relationships. With over 26 years of experience in Financial Services, Kevin has a wealth of experience in assisting advisers in the implementation of their Centralised Investment Process, introduction of Multi Asset Investing and the promotion of Model Portfolios. Kevin is a member of the Institute of Financial Services and holds the Diploma in Financial Services. At Cornelian, Kevin is responsible for adviser relationships in the South East.

  • Sam Pollitt

    Sam Pollitt MA (Hons) Intermediary Relationship Manager (Scotland, North East, NI, CHANNEL ISLANDS & ISLE OF MAN)

    Sam joined Cornelian in May 2012 as Business Development Manager from Legal & General where he was responsible for intermediary business relationships in Scotland. He brings with him 15 years of experience of the intermediary marketplace, starting his career with Scottish Widows after completing an MA in Economics and Business from Heriot-Watt University, before moving to AIG and latterly Legal & General. At Cornelian, Sam is responsible for adviser relationships in Scotland, the North East and Northern Ireland.

  • Andrew Naylor

    Andrew Naylor Chartered MCSI DMS IMC Intermediary Relationship Manager (North West and West Midlands)

    Andrew joined Cornelian in April 2015 from 7IM where he was responsible for Intermediary relationships in respect of Funds, Model Portfolios, Discretionary Fund Management and Platform services. Andrew has previously held various Managerial roles at Macquarie International Bank and Aviva, encompassing Sales, Pensions, Strategic Relationships and Investment Development. Andrew has over 20 years' experience in the Intermediary market and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds the IMC. Andrew is responsible for adviser relations in the North West and West Midlands.

  • Kerne Morrison

    Kerne Morrison BA (Hons) Manager, Intermediary Business

    Kerne joined Cornelian in August 2016 from Standard Life Investments where as an Investment Analyst he was responsible for producing performance analysis, competitor research and sales ideas on SLI’s full suite of investment funds. Kerne began his career in Edinburgh at First State Investments after obtaining an honours degree in Accounting with Finance at the University of Glasgow. At Cornelian, Kerne is responsible for supporting adviser relationships in the South and initiating projects to help grow the Intermediary business in the region.

  • Cameron Ritchie

    Cameron Ritchie Intermediary Support Manager

    Cameron joined Cornelian in August 2015 from Standard Life where he worked with their Corporate Pension team and clients on the implementation of new schemes. Prior to this he worked with the Group Relationship Management team and spent some time working with RBS. At Cornelian, Cameron works with the Business Development Managers, assisting advisors with their day to day enquiries, producing performance data and developing internal projects relating to the intermediary market.                  

  • Ester Pastor

    Ester Pastor LLB, PGCert, IOC Senior Administrator Intermediary Support

    Ester joined Cornelian in December 2014. She is responsible for assisting with all marketing and communications of the firm as well as performing administration tasks for our Intermediary Team. Prior to joining Cornelian she worked for McClure and Naismith Solicitors in Edinburgh. Ester holds a degree in Law from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a Postgraduate Certificate in Media and Cultural Management from the University of Stirling.

  • Marcus Brooks

    Marcus Brooks MA, ASIP Director

    Marcus joined Cornelian Asset Managers as a Director and as Chief Investment Officer in 2002. He is responsible for Cornelian's Discretionary Fund Management Services and manages portfolios for private clients, charities, and pension funds. In addition to his client responsibilities, Marcus sits on the Investment Committee with a focus on asset allocation for Cornelian's multi-asset funds and discretionary client portfolios.   • Stephen Ritchie

    Stephen Ritchie MA (Hons), Chartered MCSI Senior Investment Manager

    Stephen joined Cornelian in 2012 and is responsible for portfolio and relationship management for private clients and charities. After attaining a 1st Class honours degree in Business Economics he worked with HSBC Securities Services and then with Standard Life Investments as an analyst. Stephen holds the Investment Management Certificate, Investment Advice Diploma and Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice & Management.

  • Andrew Hannay

    Andrew Hannay BA (Hons), Chartered MCSI, ASIP Senior Investment Manager

    Andrew joined Cornelian in 2016 and is responsible for portfolio and relationship management for private clients and charities. After attaining a BA honours degree in Commerce he worked in a variety of private client financial institutions in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.  Most recently, Andrew was an Associate Director with Speirs & Jeffrey, Stockbrokers and Investment Managers. Andrew is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and Chartered Financial Analysts Society of the UK.

  • Alexandra Keep

    Alexandra Keep LL.B Dip.LP, CHARTERED MCSI Investment Manager

    Alexandra joined Cornelian in 2013 and is responsible for portfolio and relationship management for private clients and charities. She attained LLB (Hons) Law and qualified as a solicitor after completing her training with Turcan Connell. Alexandra holds the Investment Management Certificate, Investment Advice Diploma and Certificate in Private Client Investment Advice & Management.

  • David Neilson

    David Neilson MA (Hons) Portfolio Manager

    David joined Cornelian in 2015 and is responsible for the daily monitoring and management of client portfolios. After attaining an honours degree in Social Policy and Politics from the University of Edinburgh, David worked with Russell Investments as an Index Analyst and then as part of the Fund Management Team at Turcan Connell Asset Management Ltd. David holds the CISI Investment Advice Diploma.

  • David Appleton

    David Appleton MSc MCSI Chartered FCSI Investment Director

    David joined Cornelian in June 2013 as Investment Director from Alder Investment Management where he was a senior investment analyst and fund manager. David manages Cornelian's UK equity investments alongside Chief Investment Officer Hector Kilpatrick and contributes to asset allocation decisions for all client portfolios and Cornelian's range of risk-managed multi-asset funds. David began his career in Edinburgh at Stewart Ivory after gaining degrees in Economics and International Banking & Finance before spending ten years at Alder Investment Management, a London-based family office. At Alder, David gained extensive investment experience across a range of traditional and alternative asset classes including equities, fixed income/credit, commercial property, private equity and infrastructure.

  • Richard Alexander

    Richard Alexander BSc (Hons), MSc Associate Director, Head of Dealing

    Richard joined Cornelian in March 2009 from Blackrock Investment Management where as Director of Global Equity Dealing he was responsible for the implementation of many projects and improvements. He has degrees in Computer Science from Aberdeen University and in Computation (Mathematics) from Oxford, and brings a very broad experience to Cornelian covering leading edge technology and processes for dealing and for the management of risks in portfolio construction processes.

  • Richard Stark

    Richard Stark MSc, CFA Senior Investment Manager

    At Cornelian, Richard researches and manages the collective investments within private client portfolios and the risk managed fund range as well as contributing to asset allocation decisions. He joined Cornelian in 2011 as an Investment Analyst, having completed an MSc in Finance & Investment at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to this he worked for BlackRock Investment Management. Richard is a CFA charterholder.

  • Ewan Millar

    Ewan Millar MA (Hons), CFA Senior Investment Manager

    Ewan joined Cornelian in 2017 as a Senior Investment Manager. He previously worked at Kempen Capital Management where he helped manage both european and global small cap direct equity portfolios. As part of the investment team, Ewan supports investment decision making across both UK equities and funds and also contributes to asset allocation decisions for all client portfolios as well as Cornelian’s risk managed fund ranges. Ewan holds an MA in Business & Economics and is a CFA Charterholder.

  • David Whytock

    David Whytock MA (Hons), ACSI Investment Analyst

    David joined Cornelian in 2017, and assists with the analysis of stocks and funds, as well as providing back up dealing support. Since graduating with an honours degree in History from the University of Aberdeen, he has worked at JP Morgan, Walter Scott, and most recently Baillie Gifford, where he spent three years as an investment assistant on the Multi Asset desk. David holds the CISI Capital Markets certificate, and is a CFA level two candidate.

Marketing & Communications

  • Sue Allison

    Sue Allison MA (Hons) Marketing Manager

    Sue joined Cornelian in October 2007. She began her career at Save & Prosper, and has since worked in a variety of roles including the marketing department of Franklin Templeton, where she was a founder member. At Cornelian, Sue has responsibility for all marketing, branding and PR related activity and manages all external communications.

  • Regina Jackson

    Regina Jackson MA (Hons), FCIBS, FCIPD Operations and HR Director

    Regina joined Cornelian Asset Managers in 2011.     Kerrie Muirhead BA (Hons) Head of Investment Administration

    Kerrie joined Cornelian Asset Managers in 2011. As Head of Investment Administration she leads a small team providing effective client servicing and investment administration functions. She is also responsible for optimisation and effectiveness of systems and managing outsourced providers. After attaining an honours degree in Politics and Psychology from the University of Strathclyde Kerrie worked with Barclays as a settlement analyst covering UK and Spanish markets. Kerrie holds the CISI Investment Operations Certificate.
